Well worth going on a sunday for great folk music and a fun atmosphere - staff are friendly and the foods great too - its a bit poky right enough and shuts too early but clean and with fine trad decor .

I visited the white hart inn a few weeks ago! my stay there was very pleasent the female members of staff were very polite and friendly. Although the manager had a severe attitude problem and was very rude! Whats the point in working in a bar if you dont have time for the public! The food was great value for money and they had agreat range of ales on offer. keep up the good work

Although not big, this is a comfortable pub. It fits like a pair of old slippers. the beer is good, and the food is cheap. (haggis, tatties and neeps) The service is good and friendly.
I enjoy it here. I do Edinburgh quite a lot, and this is a regular stopping place.

Where to start, if you are thinking about going out in the Grassmarket give this a wide berth. dont turn up with more than four people in your group as you wont get in. while drinking in one of the pubs beside it the manager told us of a time a blind guy was barred from entering the pub incase his dog cut his paw on some glass. Come on that cant be right. Cant review it that much as there were 5 of us and we didn't get in. (would understand if we were drunk but three of us were driving and on soft drinks)

Was there recently on a Sunday night for a singer called Graeme Pearson. What a fantastic night. If you haven't been go next week, he's there every Sunday, what a laugh we all had, really knows how to get the atmosphere going. PS The White Hart Inn is the oldest pub in Edinburgh's city centre, it's been there 500 years, so the previous trite comment about an English sounding name is just daft!

Fine to drink in. Benefits from Grassmarket atmosphere but closed at 11pm when I was there! Odd effect - like drinking in England; quite an English name too.
