nice pub, fancy quiznights every monday. Kind staff. Maybe not a traditional pub, but still a very nice place to stay

the usual crowd are the parliament staff (especially dubious finance staff)

not enough seats and plays cricket too much!

Beer is consistently good. Great range of ales and beers,

Sound Staff, comfy seats,

No Bouncers nor Neds!

The Canon's Gait used to be along the tartan and threadbare carpet theme, but with the parliament and regeneration in the area, the pub has also seen a refit in recent years which works well.

There is a good selection of better than average 'pub grub' and also of beers to wash it down with.

The interior is comfortable and modern, with snapshots of traditional Edinburgh.

There are definately worse pubs to stumble into on the Royal Mile than this one.
