Its pricy but the food is really good. had an ace breakfast there yesterday. The waitress was gorgeous and service fast. it gets busy at night but the cocktails are some of the best ive had in edinburgh. people who moan about the price should simply go elsewhere, it isnt aimed at students or those in search of cheap booze!

I don't know who actually can argue the food here is good I have foolishly been several times and it is awful, Burgers straight out of a Birdseye box! To put it succinctly this pub is mutton dressed as lamb...which also goes for the cretins that frequent it...Chavs!

Avoid Montpelliers at all costs. I went for tea on a quiet Saturday morning and despite 3 separate waitresses asking for my order i did not receive my cup of tea for 40minutes. Even when it arrived it was the wrong sort of tea and was cold! I gave up at this point and didn't feel it was worth asking for another one! My friend had to wait 30minutes for his cup of coffee which when it arrived was a cappuccino although he ordered a latte. When they brought his second order they gave him a black coffee. The waiting staff were truly awful and did not apologise for their errors once. You don't have to be a rocket science to be a waitress, but you do need to have your wits about you a little bit. the scary thing was that it was a v.v. quiet saturday morning. how do they cope when it's busy

Like this place alot, great quality food (for a pub!) and really nice atmosphere. And.. the cocktails are amazing! Best Mojito ive had in Glasgow and Edinburgh (with Glasgow's Blu bar in the Merchant City coming in a close 2nd!) Staff can be abit cool at times, but only when extremely busy (that would every Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun then...) My major grip in this pub is that at the weekend it gets absolutely mobbed. And there arent enough tables either. However, some of the best grub in the city and top of my list for meals out. Shame they stopped selling the Leifmans raspberry flavoured beer (now only available at a Favorit near you!) but still definately worth the visit even if abit pricey.

i've got to say i've never had a bad meal in this place, there is a good selection of food slightly different from your average 'wine bar'. it's a lovely place to sit outside weather permitting and watch the world go by...

For under 7 quid you can get a huge traditional scottish breakfast which is always cooked to a very high standard and the service is always spot on.
I once spent a very pleasant autumnal sunday afternoon relaxing in the soft candle lit ambience of the bar getting merrily, erm, merry! Before I knew it, it was 6pm and time for dinner. Once again the food was fantastic. A quality Thai Green curry followed by more good quality bohemian beer.
Highly recommended.

In this part of town, pubs are non-existent and bars rather scarce. This bar is aimed at the young affluent professional with money to waste.
The food is excellent, the drink varied and perfect. Thanks to a selective recruitment strategy, the waiting staff [nearly all female] are pleasant on the eye.
Shame you have to sell a kidney to buy a round.
