I visited this bar when I was in Edinburgh (from Texas). I made my friends go there every night before we went anywhere else (they were about to kill me by the end of the week). It's a local type place, and the bartenders were so much fun. I love it and I can't wait to visit again.

A perfectly decent ordinary boozer, and since the ruinous revamp of Bert's next door, the only honest watering hole on William Street. Nothing fancy but it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Met up with old friends here for a chat and a drink. Didn't feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door, made to feel that it wasn't our local so what were we doing there??
My friend had Guinness from a new barrel, but they didn't draw anything off first so the pint was undrinkable. Also ordered a curry and made to feel ill afterwards.
NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Meet up with an old mate on Friday. Needed to find somewhere that wasn't too busy and not so loud. After trying a few bars we settled down here. It was good not having to shout at each other to get heard. Jukebox was on but at a reasonable volume level. It was not too busy also. Not a ned in sight as well. The only think was the pint of 70 was well off! Got a new pint of Guinness no problem from the Friendly Australian barmaid. Had a good night.

this was always too smokey - but is much better now. the food is pretty mediocre - a bit bland, and not exactley healthy. But it's good atmosphere. But avoid Thursday nights - quiz night with bigoted quizmaster who really needs a new amp!

That it enough to get a recommendation in my eyes.
