Man, this place is strange! can't decide if it's a hidden gem or a hidieous germ of a bar. The stained glass windows are truly amazing, and the distressed look (which is apparently intentional) make this a unique place to visit - and there's not many places that can honestly say that!
Good beers (the draught was just back on according to the EXCEPTIONALY cute blonde barmaid - a reason to go in itself), and a wide range of bottled varieties. Anything from £2 to £3 seemed to be the norm. On the spirits front, I can honestly say i've NEVER seen a place sell a 12 year old malt whisky as their house whisky - Glenfiddich as a house spirit - WOW!!!
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there, and will defo be back.

Main bar is great as music is quiet, which is great for conversation at 2:30 in the morning. Dubious artwork adorns the walls though- apparently by the owner's hand.

Larger room has smaller bar, but is a great live music room, which has a sort of caberet/stand up seating arangement. Candle lit and atmospheric.
Live webcasts are filmed and broadcast each week.

There's another bar upstairs open at the weekends. Has louder music. Left Bank keeps it real.

The management won't allow you free tap water from the bar. They will however give you a glass and point you in the direction of the toilet sink. Appart from this being totally stupid and unhygienic, its against the law (the ravers amongst you might have noticed). Get with the beat Left Bank.

Tried this out with two out-of-town guests and a friend at the Uni - spent most of our time in the Connery bar, which was quiet and marvelously lit in red. The fact that they played two Cure albums back-to-back alone makes this a winner! The stage downstairs hosts some great shows and a lot of showcases. Younger crowd without the crazy fresher madness that other pubs in the area have in abundance. Good drinks - finally, a pub with Hoegaarden! Brilliant and highly reccomended!
