I'm french and new in town so I visited a small number of pubs here but since I know this one I really don't need to discover others, this one is perfect, good ambiance and ales, nice service

Awful, dirty and the staff were very rude. The beer was okay but that's no excuse for the way we were treated.

This is a little gem of a pub and therefore I should not promote it as it will only serve to spoil it for those who frequent it on a regular basis of which I am not! However, having spent 5 hours on a Saturday afternoon with friends watching rugby it was regretable that the whole experience was ruined by an overzealous landlord. Go for the Deuchars or the Theakstons and the bar top sandwiches are just great.

Great wee pub. Friendly local pub, with dogs and an open fire - in (nearly) city center Edinburgh!

Recommended by local retired Llb, whilst walking the town searching in vain for ale house that best belonged in gentler times... Kays is that pub...serving excellent hand pulled ales kept in in fine fettle by mine host who also drinks there (good sign)good selection of house wines thoughtfully kept at correct temps.,congenial barman (not person)with handlebar moustache..locals very friendly whils't not in your face atmosphere first class a real gem..

Its a bit hidden away but Kay's Bar is definitely worth a visit. Indeed the location stops stragglers and only those who like a good pint and a good pub come to it. A small and intimate atmosphere with friendly bar staff, good ales and (for Edinburgh) friendly punters. Normally added to by a couple of owners with their dogs and in winter by the real fire. Bit of a hidden gem.
