The best pint of Bass in Edinburgh. Shame about the Guinness, they get everything else hunky dory though.
Good down to earth grub.
Recommended.

This is one of edinburghs best real ale pubs , nice and spacious but usually busy and with all the footie and rugby you can handle on the screens .
Its nice to come in here during the day for a quiet contemplative jar as well .
Bar staff friendly and efficient .

The Cask & Barrel is an excellent place to stop off for a beer. There's normally about 5 or 6 guest ales that change on a frequent basis as well as top notch cider and wine-based options, served by people who know their stuff.

The atmosphere is nice too, usually with a good sprinkling of regulars. Major sporting events are shown and it's easy to see a screen, although if you're not interested it's easy enough to ignore what's going on.

Good for a pint on the way home, meeting friends in a group or catching the game.
