consistently one of the best real ale bars in the area along with the cask and barrel .

It has a nice atmosphere , vintage fixtures and good quality real ales . It really does have that old fashioned pub ambience that vanished over the years . it also used to have decent bar food , although im not sure if this is the case now .

The toilets are way too tiny though .

Perhaps a Nicer pub to have a quiet pint in during the day than go out at night to . but recommended.

Having drunk here for many, many years there is honestly nothing bad I can say about this bar so whether you are a seasoned regular or a Barony virgin(!)you are sure of a very warm welcome.

There are a great and always changing range of real ales and guests beers and the food is great value and freshly cooked. The Staff are pretty great as well.

Sundays see live music and again this shouldn't be missed!

So what you waiting for.......Cheers!!!

Average food, average value, BUT great beer and fantastic music on Sundays. Quite simply, the best pub to spend a sunday evening in Edinburgh.

good, relaxed atmosphere. good for the older set as this bar is obviously not 'in' with teeny-drinkers.

The Barony has excellent live music every Sunday and the place is packed from 7pm onwards. Unlike Davy's experience, I find there are four friendly barstaff on every week, the service is swift sand efficient. There is a lovely window seat and newspapers and mags. are provided if you just want to sit and read or watch the world go by a la Broughton Street.

Glum Souless manager makes drinking here a chore rather than a pleasure, aged students and wannabee real ale fans make for a really cheap atmosphere
